According to this, JoAnne's has recycled buttons from La Mode brand. Anyone know of a local JoAnne's? ...or have a car?

YKK (originally of Japan but currently has US-based manufacturing plants) makes recycled and biodegradable zippers. They offer a range of plastic products (eg. backpack snaps) which are not recycled. Investigating further, I called their Kentucky office, which specializes in snaps/toggles/buttons and left a message inquiring if these particular notions were also "sustainable." Waiting for the response.
